Correos has admitted a total of 97,452 votes by mail for this Sunday’s Catalan elections, which is 63.8% less than the total number of votes admitted in the previous Catalan elections held during the covid pandemic, on February 14 of 2021, as reported this Friday by the public company.

In the 2021 Catalan elections, up to 269,505 citizens voted by mail, which marked a record in the regional electoral processes held until then; and 36.6% more than the number of votes by mail registered in the previous counterpart process, held on December 21, 2017 (71,334).

Correos reminds that 106,963 applications for voting by mail have been accepted for the Catalan elections. Correos has made 100% of the electoral documentation available to applicants, either by delivering it by hand to their home or by notifying them to be collected at the Correos offices.

The votes cast represent 91.1% of the admitted applications, a conversion ratio similar to that recorded in previous regional electoral processes in Catalonia (94.6% in 2021 and 87.7% in 2017).

Correos has provided all the organizational, technological, logistical and human resources necessary to guarantee compliance with the public service obligations entrusted to it in the electoral processes.

Among the organizational measures adopted, Correos has carried out more than 600 reinforcement contracts, both for offices and for the distribution of shipments and the necessary tasks in the logistics centers, including the Barcelona Comprehensive Logistics Center, the Sant Cugat CTA and the one located at the “Adolfo Suárez” Madrid-Barajas airport, for the correct management of international shipments.
