The former president of the Catalan PP and founder of Vox, Alejo Vidal-Quadras, 78, was discharged this Thursday from the Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid, where he was admitted on November 9 after being shot in the face. Due to the bullet impact he had to undergo surgery for a double jaw fracture.
This was made clear by the health center through a medical report, in which it confirmed today “the discharge from the hospitalization ward” of Vidal-Quadras, given that he has experienced improvement in his recovery. An unknown person who fled on a motorcycle tried to murder the former politician on November 9, around 1:30 p.m., on Núñez de Balboa Street in Madrid, very close to his home.
The politician informed the Police that the Government of Iran could be behind the shooting due to its relations with the opposition in this country.
The judge of the National Court Francisco de Jorge takes statements this Friday from the three detained in Lanjarón (Granada) and Fuengirola (Málaga) for their alleged relationship with the shooter.
A couple was arrested in Lanjarón – he of Spanish nationality and she of British nationality, whose involvement is unknown -, while the person arrested in the Malaga municipality of Fuengirola is of Spanish nationality.
According to the first investigations, the latter would be related to the motorcycle used in the attack and on which the shooter and his companion who was driving it fled. After the arrest of these suspects, it also emerged that the Police are looking for a fourth suspect of Tunisian origin.
The three will be placed at the disposal of the head of the Central Court of Instruction number 1 of the National Court without exhausting the extension of detention of up to five days that the law allows in cases of terrorism and that expired on Saturday.
Last week, De Jorge assumed this investigation, which has been declared secret, as it may be a crime of terrorism due to the possibility that responsibility for the attack lies with an organization linked to the Iranian regime.
