The Valencian vice president and Minister of Culture, Vicente Barrera, of Vox, made it clear this morning that there will not be “not one euro” to the entities that defend the “Valencià Country” or speak of the “Catalan Countries”. He said this in an interview in À Punt, where he also stressed that “from the Ministry there is a red line, we are not going to allow any concept that feeds the idea of ??País Valencià, it is not legal, I am not going to allow our money to fund those positions.”
In the opinion of the number two of the Valencian executive, “País Valencià is not an innocent term, saying that means that we belong to the Països Catalanas, that we will stop being Valencians to assume that we are Catalans.” He added that “we do not want what happened in Catalonia to happen, with that social and political confrontation that has been dragging on.”
Barrera has confirmed that his ministry is not going to hold any event in commemoration of the centenary of the poet Vicent Andrés Estellés. “Nor did the Botànic do anything about other Valencian artists because they were not aligned with the pan-Catalan positions.” In this regard, he has said that the Botànic “did not have anything prepared for the Estellés year, there was nothing planned when we entered and for that it takes time to prepare it.”
The Minister of Culture has stated that the left “instrumentalizes people, politicizes culture, and uses authors as a combative weapon.” Regarding the regulations of the Valencian, he has said that he does not share that of the Valencian Academy of Language, AVL, but that he is not going to go “against the law, we respect it, although we do not share it.”
