The Twelfth Night Parade of the city of Valencia will incorporate representations of biblical scenes this year and will end with a representation, which is recovered “after many years”, of the adoration of the Magi to the baby Jesus in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento of Valencia. This was announced this Tuesday by the Councilor for Festivals and Traditions, Mónica Gil, in a press conference to present the main news of the parade after the change of government and the PP and Vox pact.
Among the changes introduced is the return of private companies – up to four that will contribute money in exchange for advertising – or the placement of rental chairs on the route at a price of 4 euros each.
Vox councilor Mónica Gil has explained that the Parade will have two parts. The first will have as its common thread the promotion of reading and will feature characters from “traditional stories” such as Snow White, Cinderella, Alice and more modern ones such as the Little Mermaid or Aladdin.
Asked if there would be characters from popular Valencian stories, Gil simply explained that they will be characters from stories “that everyone knows.” Yes, comic book superheroes will have their space. Additionally, this space is where the company floats will leave.
The second part of their majesties’ parade will be “more biblical and more liturgical,” said the Councilor for Festivals and Traditions. Thus, scenes from the Bible such as the annunciation, the birth, the slaughter of the innocents by Herod or the Annunciation will be represented. As already warned, the characters that the previous Government had taken to the streets in a secular parade without biblical references will disappear.
The parade will end with the traditional reception of the Kings in the Crystal Hall of the Consistory and with a pyromusical show by the Tamarit pyrotechnics.
