The United States Air Force is investigating an episode of an intruder in Joint Base Andrews, a military centre in Maryland’s Prince George’s County that homes Air Force One, the aircraft which conveys the president.
“An unauthorized person obtained access to Joint Base Andrews. The incident is under investigation,” that a Joint Base Andrews spokesperson told ABC News in an announcement late Thursday. Any requests for information regarding the episode can be known to OSI.”
The OSI didn’t immediately respond to ABC News’ request for comment and extra information.
It is uncertain once the incident happened or if the person was able to achieve any aircraft to the flight line.
Joint Base Andrews is situated about 14 miles north of Washington, D.C.
“Technically,’Air Force One’ is used to designate any Air Force aircraft carrying the President, but it’s now standard practice to use the word to refer to certain planes which are outfitted to transfer the Commander-in-Chief,” the White House countries on its site. “Now, this title refers to one of 2 highly personalized Boeing 747-200B chain aircraft, which take the tail codes 28000 and 29000.
