Sumar’s spokesperson, Ernest Urtasun, said this Monday that Mónica Oltra, former vice president of the Valencian Government, is an “essential political asset”, although he has avoided clarifying whether she has been offered to be part of the European lists or return to the front line of politics.

Urtasun has refused to enter into speculation at a press conference when asked about this matter, after the provisional dismissal of the judicial case opened against Oltra for the cover-up of sexual abuse of a ward girl allegedly committed by her ex-husband.

“We want to convey all our support and solidarity to Mónica Oltra. She has been the victim of an indecent lawfare campaign (…) in an operation that had the objective of overthrowing a democratic government,” he said.

She has avoided clarifying or entering into speculation if Sumar has offered her to join the European lists, pointing out that “it would not be respectful” and that it is she who has to decide her political future “especially after everything she has suffered.” has commented.

Asked if they have contacted her after the judicial dismissal, Sumar’s spokesperson responded that they have kept in touch not only in the last few hours, but also over the months.

Last Friday Yolanda Díaz did not want to meet journalists in Valencia days after the case against Oltra was filed.

Regarding IU’s request to hold primaries to configure Sumar’s list for the European elections, he said that they continue negotiating these days “to create the most solid candidacy” they can.

“I am convinced that we are going to have a strong candidacy, representative of the plurality, and we are willing, when we have the list, to submit it to the vote in Sumar. We are going to do that and, therefore, it falls within the plan,” he commented. .

Regarding IU’s proposal to rebuild bridges with Podemos, it has made it clear that “everyone who wants to be in Sumar is there and whoever is not in Sumar is because they have decided so.” “It is up to them to explain why they are not there,” he concluded.
