Unemployment rises by 23,300 people in the Valencian Community while activity increases

Unemployment rose in the third quarter by 23,300 people in the Valencian Community, while the activity rate stood at 59%, with a total of 46,600 more active people, autonomy with the greatest increase.

In the last year, most communities increased their employment, although the greatest increases occurred in Andalusia (133,000 more), Valencian Community (107,700) and Catalonia (80,400), according to data from the Active Population Survey (EPA) published this Thursday.

Unemployment in the Valencian Community rose in the third quarter by 60,800 people, reaching 2,980,200 people. This leaves an unemployment rate of 13.5%, one point above the national average. By provinces, Valencia registers an unemployment of 13.78%, Alicante 13.61% and Castellón, 11.79%.

On the other hand, the data show that employment increased by 77,700 people to 20,545,700, in a summer with a surge in employment in services, while it fell in agriculture and construction.

Regarding employment, it increased in the quarter in services, 114,300 more people, and in industry, with 33,100 more; while it fell in agriculture, with 60,300 less; and in construction, with 9,400 less, affected by the heat wave.
