Two women have died and another remains in critical condition in a fire that occurred this Sunday at the Juan XXIII nursing home in the Madrid district of Aravaca, Emergencies Madrid has reported.
According to the source, in the fire, declared shortly before 7 a.m., another ten people were slightly injured and required transfer to hospitals.
Early in the morning, Madrid Emergencies received a notice about the fire in this center, which houses 39 residents.
The fire started in a room on the first floor and filled the second floor with smoke, causing several injuries due to inhalation.
One resident has been transferred in critical condition to the Peace Hospital and ten others have required hospital care for smoke inhalation.
The Firefighters, the National Police, the Municipal Police, the Samur and the SUMMA have participated in the extinguishing, evacuation and care of the injured people.
