On February 14, Mossos d’Esquadra agents arrested a 30-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, as alleged perpetrators of five thefts. These arrests are the result of an investigation led by the Sants-Montjuic district investigation unit, following a series of thefts in homes in different districts of the city of Barcelona.

All of these thefts, with the same methodology, began at the end of November with a theft in an apartment on Ca l’Alegre de Dalt street and the last one occurred on February 1 on Ciutat de Balaguer street.

In all cases, a woman appeared on the floor, dressed in an apron, pretending to be a domestic worker, and with that appearance she explained that she was working on the upper floor and said that she had dropped an item of clothing on the balcony or gallery. .

He asked to enter the apartment to pick up the item of clothing and, while he made sure that the door was left open, he pretended to be searching the balcony, while a second person involved entered the home and stole the valuables, especially jewelry.

In total, five complaints have been filed, but everything indicates that this group of people have tried in other homes without being allowed to enter the apartment. In total they managed to steal objects worth more than €300,000

It so happens that all the victims are people with reduced mobility, aged between 85 and 92 years. The perpetrators of the events previously selected their targets in the supermarket environment to ensure their action and that they would not find more people in the homes.

Thanks to the evidence collected in each of the events, they were able to determine the identity of the woman who was cajoling them and that of a man who would be one of those who would access the apartment to steal the objects.

The investigators located his place of residence in Barcelona and last Wednesday, February 14, an entry and investigation authorized by the court was carried out.

During the search, they located and arrested the woman for the five incidents and the man who allegedly participated in two of them. In the apartment, the agents located many documents from different countries, such as passports, permits and driver’s licenses, with various identities and which, pending analysis by the scientific police, would appear to be false. They also found about €10,000 and various jewelry, the origin of which is being determined.

The investigation remains open and more arrests of people related to the events are not ruled out. The detainees have numerous records for similar events that occurred in other places in the Spanish state.

The detainees were brought to justice on February 16.
