A player from the Unión Pedro Hidalgo B and a fan of the same club have been arrested after the violent episode that took place last Saturday in a Second Amateur match in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The man, a follower of Unión Pedro Hidalgo, attacked the C.D. Firgas producing a large cut on his left hand.

According to the referee’s report, “once the match was over and both teams went to the changing rooms, the home team’s number 16 hit with excessive force in the left area of ??the neck of the visiting team’s number 1”.

After this incident, a fight began between the two teams where, according to the referee, “punching, shoving, headbutting and kicking” took place. In addition, one of the fans “carried a knife with which he even hit the coach of the visiting team on his left hand, causing a large cut, from which significant bleeding emanated,” the referee explained.

There were also insults and threats between players. “I’m going to kill you, you’re not going to get out of here alive, you son of a bitch,” the act collected. Faced with the violent situation, it was the arbitration team itself who called the police and health services.

The detained fan is, presumably, the perpetrator of the stab wounds suffered by the Firgas CD coach, who required twelve stitches, when he intervened to prevent a fan from attacking his physical trainer with a knife.

Following the incidents, both C.D. Firgas such as the Las Palmas Inter-Insular Football Federation (FIFLP) “vigorously” condemned what happened.
