Twenty companies are interested in building the City of Justice: an investment of 680 million

The Minister of the Presidency, Justice, and Local Administration of the Community of Madrid, Miguel Ángel García, has announced that, to date, more than twenty companies and international architecture studios have visited the plot on which the City will be built. of Justice to be able to make their offers for the project’s tender, whose submission period ends on May 20.

The spokesperson for the Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso has thus shown his confidence in the possibilities of this great project going forward after more than twenty years of being stopped, among other things, due to a lack of companies interested in the tender and in which, to revive it , the Madrid Government is going to invest more than 680 million euros.

García participated this Monday in an informative breakfast organized by Nueva Economía Fórum, he praised this “star project” of his ministry and indicated that the City of Justice in Madrid “will be the largest judicial complex in the world and one of the largest public building works in Spain.

As highlighted, the built surface will be four times larger than the Court of Justice of Paris, six times larger than the Palace of Justice of Antwerp and twelve times larger than the Court of Justice of the State of New York thanks to an area of ??463,000 square meters built that will unite the judicial headquarters of the region.

As the regional Executive has announced on numerous occasions, the City of Justice is planned for 2028 and, as García recalled, it will be 100% accessible, will be completely digitalized and will also be a constructive benchmark in energy efficiency, since its energy consumption will be almost 0, and 10 points below the European Commission’s objective.

Specifically, García has detailed that in 2026 the buildings that will house the Superior Court of Justice, the Provincial Court and all the Courts of First Instance will be completed and in 2027 the rest of the jurisdictions, with the exception of the Criminal Court, which will be It will end at the end of 2028, the year in which they plan to complete the entire construction project and which will coincide with the arrival of the Metro to Valdebebas.

In addition to reviewing the main project of his ministry in matters of Justice, during his intervention, the Minister of Local Administration also pointed out that one of the main challenges facing the administration is to guarantee territorial rebalancing and fight against depopulation.

For this reason, García has announced that, among other measures already announced such as rental incentives in municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants, the Madrid Government is going to establish new aid for the creation and maintenance of businesses and hospitality in municipalities with less than 1,000. population.

According to García, the figures are already showing that the measures against depopulation work and he has indicated that the population of municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants grew between 2019 and 2023 by 7%, more than 44,000 people; while those with less than 2,500 inhabitants increased, in that same period, almost 12%, 8,676 more people.

These figures explain that they are much higher than the population growth of the region as a whole, 3%, and also of Madrid capital, which was 2%.
