President Donald Trump is gonna have a chat with Vladimir Putin, the Russian guy, on Monday. Trump wants to stop the “bloodbath” in Ukraine. He mentioned the call will happen at 10 a.m., but didn’t say what time zone. He also plans to talk to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO folks.

Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s spokesperson, thinks the U.S. is cool for helping out. He mentioned that if the U.S. can help them reach their goals peacefully, that would be great. Peskov also talked about the chance of Trump and Putin meeting in person. He said it depends on what they decide. The details of the meeting need to be figured out by the two leaders.

Leaders from Britain, France, Germany, and Italy chatted with Trump on Sunday. They urged Putin to take peace talks seriously. If Russia doesn’t engage in ceasefire and peace talks, they might use sanctions. Trump has been criticized for being soft on Russia and tough on Ukraine. Former U.S. Ambassador Bridget Brink even gave details on why she left her post last month. She thinks the U.S. should pressure Russia, not Ukraine.

The violence in Ukraine hasn’t stopped. Russia keeps attacking Ukrainian civilians with drones and missiles. On Sunday, a 75-year-old lady died in Kherson due to Russian shelling. Trump will speak with Putin to try and stop the killing. He hopes a ceasefire will happen and the war will end. Despite promising to end the war quickly, Trump is finding it tough.

Trump’s second term hasn’t been easy. Negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are ongoing, but the demands are very different. Russia wants Ukraine to surrender before signing a truce. Ukraine thinks that’s not cool. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance met with Zelenskyy in Rome. They even met Pope Leo XIV. Europe isn’t too happy about Trump and Putin talking directly. They want NATO allies involved. But, the European Commission president is happy that things are moving forward. She feels next week is crucial.
