It was a matter of time before Triquell, one of the participants with the most personality in Eufòria, would put his voice on an album. After the repercussion achieved with the release of Jugular, the song in Catalan that played the most on the radio last February, Entre Fluids (Halley records) appears, the first work of this 23-year-old, named Francesc Fuentes. Its thirteen songs go through all kinds of sounds, from disco to chill out moments, a reflection of the varied influences of this freak -as he defines himself- who does not shy away from curbing his ego or criticizing his origins. artistic.

Mix many sounds

Our references are super varied, we are capable of enjoying a Manzanita song but also a live session by FKJ or a more regular techno like Moderat, when we work we come inspired by what we have heard. Sometimes you find an environment or an aura and when capturing it we like to show versatility, because otherwise we feel that we owe ourselves to only one genre.

The references would be Beck or David Bowie, who throughout their career have searched for different sounds and textures, with different producers. It’s about finding compatible color palettes under a varnish.

Speak plural, who do you work with?

With the guild, Triquell is a microculture of people both in the audiovisual section and the band itself and the producers, who are ourselves. Also the networks and graphic design, we form a network where we entrust the projects that we may have in parallel. We discuss and propose scripts and ideas, the band is present in most of the compositions, therefore it also has a voice and a vote, it is not the band that accompanies the ego, we are all equally involved.

He has his ego in check

It has to be lowered. My ego bothers me, but I need it to have a reference to where I come from and where I am going. To go on stage you need to believe it in the extreme.

IN CBD Espardenyes says “signing a ballot subjected me to a tyrant”

It is a way of satirizing a reality that I found hard to which I wanted to give a B-side. Instead of throwing stones at the ceiling that made me known, I try to laugh at myself for having considered myself a product, having to be submissive to a repertoire that I didn’t choose and having to work with a production company that didn’t pay me much.

It refers to the Euphoria program

We were going blind, we didn’t know if the project would work, but having become a cultural phenomenon… Value must be given to the work of any artist, especially when they make content in Catalan and they are young people who are building their future and want to invest in a project You have to give value to artistic work.

He has recently explained that when he entered the program he was depressed

I noticed it because I cried little, I was little moved and meditated a lot, I had a lot of peace of mind but I cradled extreme apathy inside. Several things happened to me in life, my roommates, the relationship I was in, my cat died. Situations that made me enter an apathetic phase that over time I have seen was depression. From here I began a new cycle in which I find myself at the opposite extreme, destabilized and unbalanced in an extreme way, trying to assimilate this tsunami.

Do you have to suffer to make music?

You must have stories to explain, something that stirs you inside. You can tell who has no scars, who is doing it just to do it. I respect that there are content creators who throw more than banal songs and they do well, but I like that there is a part of me in the songs, otherwise I feel like an impostor. I have to take out the intestines, which I can’t physically do, and now that I have a megaphone I make my little revolution in my room. It’s a form of therapy I don’t understand but it saves me.

What role is Euforia playing in promoting music in Catalan?

You have to be careful with the divide between entertainment and culture, and treat music more as culture and not so much as entertainment, but I think Eufòria has done a good job of constructive criticism. This year they are paying the contestants, which is what needs to be done.

Your generation opts for electronic music

We have a lot of access to digital production tools, and you can set up the structure before you put together a band.

What music have you grown up with?

I’ve been very freaky, I have too many references, I talk about Alice in Chains, Strokes, Tash Sultana, Tame Impala, Fleetwood Mac, I really like the Tango in the night vinyl. I guess if I soak up various references, the album has to come out varied.

It is a reference for young people

The action of responsibility is extreme, I have always tried to take responsibility for how I use the megaphone. If you are a role model it is because you inspire someone and that does not have to be scary, but at the same time I like to have a pedagogical perspective with my content. I am empowered by knowing that everything I say can generate ideas and can inspire. When I have been a monitor or a teacher, I had the same aura, being a role model that inspires, is friendly and shows my own values. I am not an example of anything, but I have the will to be an inspiration for something.
