In a few hours the long-awaited final of Benidorm Fest 2024 will take place from the Palau d’Esports l’Illa in Benidorm. The Valencian city has been decked out for the event, and many Eurofans have traveled from all over Spain to enjoy the gala live. Such is the expectation that nothing else is talked about in these streets.
An event in which the eight artists who managed to get through the semifinals will fight for the bronze microphone that will give them a direct pass to Eurovision. And, although all the favorites have managed to get through, echoes of victory can already be heard for some of them.
“Within me I only have gratitude,” said St. Pedro in the press conference after the second semifinal. And he managed to win the favor of the professional jury and the public, receiving 164 points, and it is not surprising that his face has radiated happiness since then. The Tenerife native is thus nominated as the great favorite of this edition.
With a very intimate song and a minimalist staging in which he is the main protagonist, a series of silhouettes show memories of a past relationship. A performance that brought everyone present in the stadium to their feet and brought tears to their eyes.
And although everything indicates that he will be the big winner tonight, Nebulossa cannot be lost sight of. “Bitch, bitch, bitch” is already something that echoes every time this group enters the scene. The duo formed by María Bas and Mark Dasousa could not even imagine what they would end up forming when they showed up at the casting by chance.
The stadium collapsed with his performance in the first semi-final. So much so, that from inside it was difficult to listen carefully to the singer’s voice. A surge that made them pass better than in the final rehearsals and for which they earned 149 points.
During their interviews they confessed that she was the one who, secretly, decided to send the song to RTVE. Now, her husband and duet partner is very grateful. “I have to thank you, because I didn’t believe in this, but I have accompanied you in your dream, love, and I just want you to be very lucky,” Dasousa said in one of the press conferences. Right after, they merged in a kiss that aroused applause from all the press present.
Along with them, Jorge González and Angy Fernández are at the top of the betting houses. Even so, it seems that they are going to have a very difficult time against the two great titans of this edition. And we will have to wait until tonight to know the final outcome in a gala that promises many surprises. Among the star guests is Camela. Her announcement generated numerous positive comments on social networks, some even asking for her participation in the next year.
But if there is something that the public looks forward to, it is seeing the performances of the contestants. María Peláe will open the final with Her Sender, followed by St. Pedro and Her Two Strangers. And from an emotional ballad to the rocker I Know Who I Am by Angy Fernández. Then it will be Jorge González’s turn with Caliente and Nebulossa with Zorra. Sofia Coll will follow with Here to stay and Miss Caffeina with Bla, blah, blah. And, just before the voting, Almácor will make everyone dance with platinum Brillos, thus closing the competition.
Despite the tension that is felt, if one thing is certain, it is that everyone will try to fully enjoy the festival experience prior to the Eurovision celebration in Malmö on May 11.
