Three young people were arrested early Saturday morning in Masquefa (Barcelona) after the stabbing of a boy during the Sant Isidre festival in this town in the Anoia region. The injured man, 22 years old, remains admitted to the Bellvitge Hospital and according to municipal sources there is no fear for his life, reports the ACN agency.

The events occurred on the night of Friday to Saturday during a nighttime celebration and the authorities fear that it went beyond a simple fight, since those arrested – two residents of Piera and one of Capellades – were carrying a knife.

The event’s private security stopped the fight until the Mossos d’Esquadra and the local Masquefa police intervened, the aforementioned sources explained. The Masquefa City Council has decided to suspend the events scheduled for Saturday night for fear of not being able to guarantee their safety after the attack. However, he praised the work of the Mossos, the local police and the security forces of Piera and Els Hostalets de Pierola, who also intervened.
