Authorities said that three people were killed in a gunfire incident on Sunday morning at a Chattanooga nightclub.
Celeste Murphy, Chief of Police, stated that two victims died from gunshot wounds and that a third was injured after being struck by a car as she fled the scene on McCallie Avenue.
According to Jeremy Eames, a police spokesperson, the two victims of gunshot wounds died among 14 others. He also said that it was not clear if the third victim was also shot.
Murphy stated that two other victims were also hit by cars while trying to flee. However, they survived and now there are 17 total victims. The victims included 16 adults and one juvenile.
She said that “many victims are still in critical condition”.
At 2:37 a.m., Mary’s Bar and Grill was the first to dial 911. A second call was made from one block west of Mary’s Bar and Grill at 1:37 a.m. Records show.
