Thousands of officials from courts and tribunals, including those who came from Castilla y León, have demonstrated this Thursday in Madrid to demand that the Government “react” and start a negotiation with them such as the one that has allowed them to reach salary increase agreements with judicial lawyers, judges and prosecutors.
After more than a month of mobilizations promoted by the CSIF, STAJ, CCOO and UGT unions, some 20,000 workers, according to the organizers, have marched through the center of Madrid, from the Ministry of Justice to the Secretary of State for Public Function, to request the intervention of both departments.
“It is false that (the Government) is offering dialogue and negotiation. Since April 24, seven days after the strike began, it has not called us to any meeting, it has not put any offer on the table,” Luis Calero lamented. , of CCOO, who has shown himself willing to meet “right now” with the Ministries of Justice and Finance and Public Function.
“That the Minister (of Justice, Pilar Llop) and the Government react and call us immediately to negotiate,” Calero asked the media minutes before the start of the demonstration, which lasted a couple of hours.
However, with the municipal and regional elections just a few days away, ministerial sources told EFE this Wednesday that they did not plan to convene the unions this week to negotiate a way out of the conflict, in which the autonomous communities that have Judicial powers transferred.
In fact, in the Basque Country the majority unions ELA and LAB have reached an agreement this week with the regional government to call off the strike. The main measure agreed upon is a 13% increase in the wages of these workers in two batches, which allows remuneration to be equalized with the rest of Basque civil servants.
Meanwhile, the public workers of the Justice of the rest of the territory, some 43,000 are still called to strike and will continue with mobilizations like the one this Thursday in Madrid to request a “reasonable” salary offer and participate in the negotiation of the Organic Law of Efficiency Organization (LOEO).
For the person in charge of Justice of CSIF, Javier Jordán, the LOEO is an “imposed law, which has not been negotiated with the representatives of the workers and which, moreover, does not attack one of the main problems: the distribution of functions”.
In this line, the general secretary of STAJ, Vicente Navarro Pérez, has reproached that the civil servants carry out the “functions for which others who do nothing are going to charge”.
“If there is for some, there is for all”, “We are not inferior, we are workers” and “Llop, resign or come out of hiding” are some of the chants chanted by officials from all over Spain, with banners and vests of the unions, whistles, horns and some disguise.
If the demands of the officials are not met, “the conflict is far from over,” warned Antonio Lozano, of the UGT.
While the unions speak of around 85% of daily monitoring of the strike, the Ministry has estimated this data at 31.55% this Thursday in the territories that have not transferred the powers of Justice: Murcia, Extremadura, Castilla- La Mancha, Castilla y León, Balearic Islands, Ceuta and Melilla.
