The four arrested this week accused of the crime of Joan Anguera, the 86-year-old resident of Tàrrega who was shot in the back last December when his home was broken into, had previous information about the victim. The homicide group of the Ponent police region suspects that the assailants received prior information about the man, who was well known in the town and who was said to have kept a lot of money and jewelry in his house.
In any case, none of the four arrested on Wednesday in Terrassa, where they were based, knew Anguera. All of them, of South American origin, planned the assault with the aim of robbing, but the victim, upon hearing noises in his house at dawn, asked his wife to bring him a pistol that he kept on a small table and was fatally shot by the back.
The investigators worked from the visual inspection of the crime scene and the positioning of the mobile phones at the time of the crime.
