Thomas Kingston, husband of Lady Gabriella Windsor, daughter of Prince Michael of Kent, died last Sunday at the age of 45, as announced by Buckingham Palace. King Charles III sent his deepest condolences to the family as soon as he heard the tragic news.

According to some British media, Kingston was found dead in a house in Gloucestershire, western England. Emergency services responded to the scene shortly after six in the afternoon. The police have determined that they will carry out an investigation to establish the cause of his death, but they have already made it clear that there are no suspicious circumstances in this regard.

Last Tuesday night, his wife and the financier’s family sent a statement announcing his death. Lady Gabriella also wanted to share an image of her husband, belonging to her personal album, in which he can be seen smiling and dressed informally.

“It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother. Tom was an exceptional man who illuminated the lives of all who knew him,” they write. “His death has been a great shock to the entire family and we ask that you respect our privacy as we mourn his passing,” they conclude.

The financier maintained a close friendship with his wife’s cousin, Prince William. His death, however, was not the reason why the heir did not attend the religious service last Tuesday in memory of his godfather, Constantine II of Greece, held in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, where they were precisely married. Thomas and Lady Gabriella Kingston in 2019, after getting engaged in 2018. At the ceremony, however, Lady Gabriella’s parents, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, could be seen.

Lady Gabriella is a second cousin of King Charles III – the parents of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Michael of Kent were siblings – and, at the time of her birth, she was 18th in line to the throne.

A graduate of the University of Bristol, Kingston has always been involved in the political and financial sector, with his work for the release of hostages in Iraq being highly regarded after joining the diplomatic missions unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the United Kingdom.

Following these projects, he was director of Devonport Capital, a financial company specialized in supporting companies in emerging economies by providing them with access to financing and liquidity bridging solutions.

Regarding his personal life, Kingston had previously dated Pippa Middleton, younger sister of Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, with whom he continued to maintain a great friendship. Proof of this was his attendance with his then-girlfriend, Lady Gabriella, at the wedding of Middleton and James Matthews, in 2017.
