In just a few days the new edition of Tast a la Rambla will start, which this year will be held from June 8 to 11 and not on the promenade that gives it its name, but in Plaza Catalunya. The transfer is due to the works that are being carried out and that will last 7 years, with which it is intended to widen the iconic Barcelona avenue, which is to become a more modern and pedestrian space.

The new location will not alter the essence of this gastronomic festival that celebrates its ninth edition and is organized by the Associació d’Amics, Veïns i Comerciants de La Rambla together with the GSR group. Attendees will be able to savor the dishes of renowned establishments in the Catalan capital: 36 restaurants, bars and pastry shops will bring their tapas and tastings to locals and visitors for 5 tokens (€5), which they can accompany with drinks from 2 tokens (€2).

Some of the proposals for this year’s edition are Informal by Marc Gascons, Nectari, Compartir Barcelona, Hotel Casa Vivi Fauna, Gaig, Taberna Kamikaze, Hotel Almanac, Pastisseria Canal, L’Atelier, Babula Bar 1937, Bar Alegría, Restaurant Moka , Fonda España, Josper, Xuba Tacos and Pepa Tomate.

Jordi Rabassa, acting councilor of Ciutat Vella, has pointed out in a press conference held this Monday that “Plaza Catalunya is, like La Rambla, a public space to be conquered by citizens”. This time, the organizers have the support of the Trade, Crafts and Fashion Consortium of the Department of Business and Work and the Generalitat de Catalunya, through the public company Prodeca. Estrella Damm repeats as main sponsor.

The 30 restaurants and 6 pastry shops participating in this edition will meet on a single island, which will be the epicenter of the event. Consumption will be made by exchanging tokens, as was done in previous years, which can be obtained at various points of sale throughout the square.

There will also be other spaces for tasting beers, wines, sparkling wines, vermouths and typical products of Lanzarote’s cuisine -which is the invited territory-, as well as areas with tables where you can eat and drink comfortably. For those who want to enjoy the experience to the full, there will also be two show cooking spaces where various free entry activities will be hosted.

The workshops, lectures and show cooking will be in charge of such renowned chefs as Carles Gaig (Restaurant Gaig), Carlota Clavé (La Gormanda), Núria Gironès (Ca l’Isidre), Marc Gascons (Els Pinars) or Miquel Antoja (Foodlona) .

Food, drink and activities will be paired with live music, which will play well into the night (except Sunday, when the performances will end at 9:30 p.m.). Some of the artists that will put the musical note are La Banddarra, Escudero Sax or DJ Edd Blond.
