“The ID. 2all will be as spacious as a Golf and as affordable as a Polo”, has assured Volkswagen, which plans to launch its new cheap electric car in 2025. Its price, estimated at less than 25,000 euros, will be within the reach of a large part of consumers. consumers; hence the name of the car means “for all” (to all, in English).

At the moment, what the German brand has shown is a prototype, which it will continue to develop until it presents the serial version in a couple of years and which will probably be called ID. 2 taking into account the nomenclature used in its electrical range. Thus, the vehicle illustrated in this article may differ from the final model, which will be manufactured at the Martorell plant, where the electric Cupra UrbanRebel will also come from.

The ID. 2all is the first front-wheel drive car built on the improved MEB Entry modular electric drive platform. According to the data provided by the brand, it delivers a power of 166 kW (equivalent to 226 CV), reaches a top speed of 160 km/h and can accelerate to 100 km/h from a standstill in less than 7 seconds. Although he did not indicate the technical specifications of the battery, he did indicate that it has a range of 450 kilometers and can be recharged from 10 to 80% in about 20 minutes at direct current (DC) fast charging stations.

The prototype ID. 2all has been designed by Andreas Mindt, appointed Volkswagen’s new chief designer. Aesthetically it is a reinterpretation of the DNA of the great icons of the brand. At the level of dimensions, this compact five-door has a length of 4.05 meters, a width of 1.81 m and a height of 1.53 m.

The trunk has a good load capacity that starts at 440 liters -not counting the additional compartments- and can be increased to a maximum of 1,330 liters by folding down the back of the passenger seats. When the passenger seat is folded, a space is achieved to carry packages up to 2.2 meters long.

Under the floor of the luggage rack there is a rectangular compartment in which objects can be transported; the same as in the 50-liter compartment under the rear seat, where you can store the charging cable, reflective vests or the puncture repair kit. In addition, there is enough space in this lockable compartment for larger devices such as laptops and tablets, which can also be charged there.

Volkswagen plans to launch the serial version of the ID. 2all with numerous high-quality technologies from the ID. larger. This will include the latest version of Travel Assist, a system for semi-automatic driving.

It will also be equipped with Matrix LED IQ.LIGHT headlights, 3D LED taillights with an LED crossbar between them, ParkAssist Plus with memory function (memorized parking), ID.Light (intuitive light signals for the driver) and electric seats with function of massage. A large panoramic spoiler roof brings an additional pleasant atmosphere to the interior.

The dashboard mounts a 10.9-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.9-inch touch screen for the infotainment system. Under the center console are two wireless mobile chargers. So that the person behind the wheel does not have to take their eyes off the road, they can see the most important driving information on a head-up display.

The serial version of the ID. 2all is one of the ten new electric models that Volkswagen will launch between now and 2026. Just this year, they have launched the ID.3, the ID. Buzz with long wheelbase and the ID.7 saloon. In 2026 the electric compact SUV will arrive and, despite all the challenges, the brand is working on an electric car for less than 20,000 euros. In this way, the car manufacturer will have the widest range of electric cars on the market and its goal is to reach an 80% share of electric cars in Europe. Previously, the brand had calculated a share of 70%.
