Using an electric bicycle or moped for individual transportation is an exciting way to stop using fossil fuels. And it is that electric two-wheeled vehicles offer the possibility of moving freely around the city without producing emissions during daily commutes.

Lately, many manufacturers are introducing new types of electric two-wheelers to the market that are halfway between the bike and the motorbike, thus offering the best of both worlds. One of these manufacturers is Pave Motors, a New York-based start-up founded in 2019 that has just introduced the new Pave BK E-Bike (also known as the Pave 1).

This groundbreaking electric moped saw the light of day for the first time in 2021, but until now the company has not started producing and marketing it. Pave Motors has spent the last two years polishing and refining the design to create a reliable, modern and efficient two-wheeler for use in cities with heavy traffic.

It boasts a minimalist design, built around a high-quality aluminum frame. It features an inverted fork, a comfortable foam seat with vinyl accents that can accommodate two passengers, an LCD screen, and a smartphone holder. Its 14-inch wheels are associated with high-performance regenerative hydraulic brakes for better control of the circumstances.

It weighs just 46 kg and is powered by a 3 kW motor (the equivalent of 49 cc) that generates 150 Nm of torque. This allows the vehicle to reach a top speed of 45 km/h in 3.7 seconds. It is approved as a moped under category L1e.

The removable battery from which the motor is powered is located under the folding seat. It is an advanced 21,700-cell lithium-ion battery, with a capacity of 1.98 kWh and 39.2 Ah, which guarantees long journeys and minimal charging time. It has an autonomy with which you can travel up to 80 km in normal mode and recharges from 0 to 80% in just one hour in a standard household socket.

There is the possibility of extending the autonomy range of the vehicle, because when the battery is fully charged, the Pave BK can provide more than 100 km as long as the Eco driving mode is used.

In terms of connectivity, the vehicle has GPS, Bluetooth and a smartphone app from which a large number of parameters are controlled. It also has an advanced blockchain-protected digital key system and can get over-the-air updates. And best of all, it requires little maintenance.

This modern two-wheeled urban vehicle is already available for pre-reservations on the brand’s website for a starting price of 6,300 euros. Deliveries are expected to begin this coming July. If you liked this proposal, don’t miss the video to see it in motion.
