The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested two women aged 30 and 35 after they tried to steal a watch valued at 3,000 euros in Girona.
The events occurred on June 1, around five in the afternoon, when non-uniformed agents saw two women with a suspicious attitude in the Eixample shopping area.
The policemen suspected that they could try to commit a robbery with the method known as the hug or ‘teletubbie’, which consists of attracting the attention of the victim, especially older people, and taking advantage of it to steal jewelry and valuables.
The Mossos saw the two women go in and out of stores looking for possible victims and suddenly one of them grabbed a person but ignored them and left.
The agents followed them until they saw that both women had the intention of committing a robbery. Seeing that they wanted to remove an object from the wrist of a woman in an establishment, they went towards them and stopped them. With this action they frustrated the theft of a watch that was from a well-known brand and valued at 3,000 euros.
The detainees have a history of similar events and have already gone to court. They are currently free awaiting trial.
