This Monday, Maritime Rescue rescued two inflatable boats located south of Lanzarote with a total of 108 immigrants, including four women, according to a spokesperson for this society.
The first of the inflatables received help from the Guardamar Calíope about 17 kilometers southeast of Arrecife. There were 56 people traveling on it: 52 men and two women from the Maghreb and two sub-Saharan men.
The second inflatable was located 25 kilometers south of the capital of Lanzarote, with 52 occupants of North African origin, including two women.
They were located by the container ship CMA CGM Lome and were rescued by the Guardamar Polimnia. All of them disembarked between 4:10 p.m. and 4:50 p.m. in the port of Arrecife, where they are receiving the first assistance.
These immigrants join the 203 sub-Saharans who arrived last night aboard four cayucos to the islands of Gran Canaria and El Hierro, after they were detected by the Integrated Foreign Surveillance System and rescued and accompanied to port by Maritime Rescue and the civil Guard.
