They promote the installation of photovoltaic panels at the old C-32 tollbooth in Santa Susanna

The Department of Territory of the Generalitat has put out to tender the works to install a solar park in the toll-free area of ??the C-32 north in Santa Susanna (Maresme), for an amount of three million euros. The work, which is part of the Self-generation and Energy Sovereignty Program on the Generalitat’s road network, will begin this coming June and will end in December. In total, 3,312 photovoltaic solar modules will be installed, which will generate 2.9 GW/h annually, which is equivalent to 11% of what will be consumed in 2023 on the roads of the Generalitat.

The works include the necessary actions to execute the panels, electrical connections and put the solar park into operation, which will occupy an area of ??about 2.3 hectares. Prior to the start of the work, the Department will have completed the dismantling of the canopies and other elements of the toll areas that remain in the trunk and on the sides of the highway.

This solar park is the first to be built of the four that the Department has planned in freed spaces on C-32 north and C-33. The other facilities will be located in the old toll areas of Arenys de Mar and Vilassar de Dalt (C-32) and Mollet del Vallès (C-33). Some actions are part of Territori’s 2023-2026 program for self-generation and energy sovereignty in the road network, which will involve the installation of 22 photovoltaic plants to achieve self-consumption on roads owned by the Generalitat. This program will involve an investment of 32.5 million euros.

The Government is working on the decarbonization of mobility from various areas to confront the climate emergency. One of those included is efficiency, self-generation and energy sovereignty, which refers to the optimization of energy consumption in the Department’s buildings and facilities and road facilities, as well as the production of renewable energy. in public domain spaces of the Generalitat.

In the road network, Territori has a set of actions underway that takes advantage of the potential offered by the public domain of roads to install photovoltaic panels, generating green energy. These plates will make it possible to generate the 25.9 GW/h per year that the entire road network of the Generalitat required during 2023, which covers some 6,000 kilometers in length.

In most of the actions, the plates will be installed around the mouths of several tunnels, for the self-consumption of these infrastructures; The most relevant interventions, in terms of surface area and energy to be generated, correspond to the installation of plates in the spaces that were freed from tolls on the C-32 north and C-33 highways.

In this sense, at the beginning of March, the Department will begin the necessary preliminary work, which includes both the dismantling of the remaining cabins and preparatory work for the installation of the plates.

The surplus energy generated by these facilities will be managed by the energy company, following the process of concentration of the Generalitat’s energy resources towards the public renewable company that the Government is carrying out with the aim of maximizing its use.
