Mossos d’Esquadra of the Premià de Mar Investigation Unit and agents of the Local Police of Alella (Maresme) have dismantled a criminal group that was dedicated to drug trafficking. In the operation, four people have been arrested, two of them in Alella, accused of belonging to a criminal group, document falsification, drug trafficking and electricity fraud. The leaders of the group lived in Barcelona and at Maresme’s home they grew marijuana.
The investigations began last August and culminated on November 9 and 10 with the arrest of four people – three men and one woman – and the seizure of a plantation of almost a thousand marijuana plants in a house in about 500 square meters of a residential neighborhood.
At the entrance to the home, carried out on November 9, two people who acted as gardeners of the plantation were detained. It has also been proven that this installation extended to six rooms of the house and was operating at full capacity. More than 250 plants had a size of more than 1.20 m. Likewise, they have also seized 426 grams of marijuana in a bag, 47 LED modules, nine air filters, six fans, a humidifier and a frequency inhibitor.
It was proven that they also carried out fraud in electricity comparable to the consumption of a dozen homes. The fraud amounts to more than 34,000 euros. The high electrical consumption was a consequence of the installation necessary for cultivation. The air conditioners, for example, were activated 24 hours a day. The voltage of the electrical system, on the other hand, posed a high risk for people, since it could have caused a fire.
At the same time, on the same day, an entry was also made into a home in Barcelona, ??which was the place of residence of the leaders of the criminal group. Here a third arrest was made and various false documentation was seized. Finally, on November 10, a fourth person who would be part of the criminal group was arrested. The detainees were brought to justice in the Courts of Mataró. The investigation remains open.
