The Generalitat has awarded the drafting of the executive project for the construction of an underpass, as well as the tariff closure of the Ferrocarrils station in Sant Vicenç de Casteller. The duration of the works will be seven months and will have a budget of 1.6 million euros.
The improvements to the Ferrocarrils station coincide with the announcement made weeks ago for the comprehensive rehabilitation project of the Renfe station. The two investments are planned in parallel and will make it possible to solve the problems of accessibility and connection for pedestrians between the different areas of the urban nucleus that are fragmented by the lines that cross the home.
The project provides for the construction under the tracks of 3×3 meters with an execution system that will combine the formation of a box pushed from the east side and an open-air section. To access the interior passage, ramps and stairs with anti-slip material will be enabled that will form a central landscaped space with the new lighting.
In a statement, the City Council attaches importance above all to making the improvements in the two train stations that cross the municipality a reality. Specifically, the council sees the space built by Passeig de la Pau and Jaume Balmes street as a true axis at pedestrian level. He will draw the central section of Carrer Joan Maria Roma as “a large lobby in the open air” of the two railway stations. In this way, Sant Vicenç de Castellet will become a regional intermodality point.
