These were still those of the PNV

The PNV once again won the elections in Euskadi, although EH Bildu already ties it in the number of deputies. We already wrote yesterday that these were not the elections for the formation led by Arnaldo Otegi, but its growth of six deputies is a warning for what may happen in four years. The socialists are the arbiters of the situation and also experience a growth of two seats. There will be no surprises in the Basque Parliament, and the PSE will give its votes to the PNV so that Imanol Pradales is the next lehendakari. Now, the future is yet to be written, and one thing is what the socialists will do in this legislature and another is what they can do in 2028. Depending on what happens in Spanish politics, the PSOE will play its cards in the Basque Country. For now, today, with these results in hand, Pedro Sánchez knows that he will continue to have the support of the PNV and EH Bildu.

A fact to take into account in case it serves the Catalan nationalists of Esquerra and Junts. In the electoral campaign where PNV and EH Bildu have shown the most rejection of the independence of Euskadi, Basque nationalism has reached its ceiling: 56 deputies. They had never added up so much.

Of the rest, it should be noted that the PP has added one more seat, but it continues to be an inconsequential party in Basque politics. Today he continues without painting anything, although today we can hear interpretations that Alberto Núñez Feijóo is closer to Moncloa. And the one who is even less attractive is the left of the PSOE of state representation: Sumar has been able to make a headway with one seat and Podemos has lost the six it obtained four years ago. Yolanda Díaz has been able to save at least the furniture, because her party would have been very affected if that only seat had gone to Podemos. And Vox maintains its only deputy, so it does not lose parliamentary representation.

On a Spanish level, Sánchez takes a breath after the severe defeat in Galicia. Now the Catalans are waiting. There is no truce. And here he really plays it.
