The countdown to discover the best of bridal fashion has already begun. Next April 17, a new edition of the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW) will start, an event that this time will showcase 37 big brands on the catwalk, 400 in the trade show, and which will have the designer Giambattista Valli as the protagonist.
The fashion world is already waiting for the leading event in the bridal sector to begin. And on the Barcelona catwalk you will be able to witness the parade of up to 900 dresses that will set the trends for the next season, which according to experts point towards the ‘new luxury’ and the fusion of classic femininity with avant-garde touches.
Jesus Peiro, Atelier Pronovias, Isabel Sanchis, Sophie et Voilà, Ogadenia Couture and Lucas Balboa will be some of the brands that will star in the shows, on a catwalk that will have the international presence of Agnieszka Swiatly (Poland), Rembo Styling and Carta Branca (Belgium) ), The Atelier Couture by Prof. Jimmy Choo (Malaysia) or Katy Corso (Ukraine). For their part, Allure Bridal and Caroline Castigliano, Sima Couture, Serina, as well as Alicia Rueda, Raquel López and Mariano Moreno will debut on the Barcelona catwalk.
But without a doubt, one of the star moments of the event will be the first night of the BBFW. If in previous years it was Elie Saab or Viktor
Valli, born in Rome, is considered the most French of Italian designers. Amal Clooney, Rihanna, Queen Rania of Jordan, Ariana Grande, Kendall Jenner, Zendaya, Jennifer López and Charlotte Casiraghi, who wore one of his designs at her religious wedding, are some of his most special clients. The protagonist of the opening evening of the BBFW, which will take place at the Llotja de Mar in the Catalan capital, considers Barcelona as “the world capital of bridal fashion. Holding a show here is the natural evolution of my Love Collection. It is an opportunity to narrate my vision about the best scenario.”
The director of BBFW, Albasarí Caro, highlights that “the participation of one of the most beloved brands in international fashion is a great privilege and positions Barcelona as a destination for haute couture brands beyond Paris.” And she adds, “in this edition we grow in number of brands and internationality, bringing together the most prestigious designers in the industry. Therefore, we want the city, as the epicenter of the bridal world, to experience this great celebration of fashion, creativity and excellence.”
And the event organized by Fira de Barcelona with the support of the Department of Business and Labor, surpasses in this edition its record of internationality with 80% of the 400 firms in its trade show coming from more than 35 countries outside of Spain and expects to generate an economic impact for the city and its surroundings of more than 61.5 million euros, according to a study by the Institute of Economics of the University of Barcelona.
The BBFW 2024 shows will be broadcast in open streaming, so they can be enjoyed from anywhere on the planet both live and recorded through the show’s website and app. Furthermore, in collaboration with La Fura dels Baus, the María Cristina promenade will host Barcelona Goes Bridal!, an artistic installation that reproduces on a large scale the cycle of the bridal fashion industry. On a large rotating hanger 100 meters long and 5 meters high you can see about 40 dresses from Catalan brands such as Pronovias, Jesús Peiró, YolanCris, Novia d’Art, Mariano Moreno or Olga Macià, among others, thus supporting the dissemination of local firms.

The brands that will be featured at Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue will parade from April 17 to 20, while the trade show will open its doors between April 19 and 21. In short, an extensive program of shows, events and business activities that make the BBFW an unmissable event for the sector and that will once again grant the city the well-deserved title of capital of bridal fashion.
