The Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona has published the list of candidacies that will be presented in the municipal elections on May 28. In the absence of definitive confirmation, which will be known next Tuesday, May 2, in the municipality of Barcelona a total of 25 lists attend these elections, one more than in the 2019 elections.

The formation led by the current mayoress, Ada Colau, who is running for a third term, presents itself under the name of Barcelona en Comú-Confluència. As Colau’s lieutenants are two of her deputy mayors, Jordi Martí, at number two on the list, and Janet Sanz, who occupies the third position. One of the most prominent signings of the mayoress of Barcelona is Guille López Ginés, one of the promoters of Eixample Respira, a neighborhood platform that wants to limit the traffic of private vehicles through the central district of the city to reduce pollution.

Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya-Acord Municipal (ERC-AM), the formation that obtained the most votes in the previous municipal elections, returns to present Ernest Maragall as head of the list. The independent Elisenda Alamany, coming from the sphere of the commons, occupies number two, while the until now delegate of the Generalitat in Madrid, Ester Capella, returns to municipal politics, this time at number three on the ERC list .

Another formation with options for victory, the PSC is competing in these elections under the name of PSC-Bo for Barcelona-United-Candidature of Progress. Jaume Collboni will try for the third time to access the mayor’s office with a list that has been strengthened with the addition of the former delegate of the Government in Catalonia, Maria Eugènia Gay. The deputy mayor Laia Bonet occupies the third position and the head of Security, Albert Batlle, the 4th. Among the socialist signings, it is worth noting that of the former leader of the communes Lluís Rabell (number 4) and the director of Mercabarna and former mayor of Manresa , Jordi Valls.

The former mayor of Barcelona, ​​Xavier Trias, will try to recover the position he lost in the 2015 elections to Ada Colau. He does so with a very personal candidacy and in which the number of Together for Catalonia: Trias per Barcelona-Municipal Commitment is not included. Trias has included in its list several former councilors of the Generalitat: Neus Munté, Victòria Alsina, Damià Calvet, Joana Ortega and Ramon Tremosa, all of them in positions of very likely election.

The PP chooses to improve the results of 2019, elections in which it was on the verge of not exceeding the 5% minimum required to obtain representation, with a list headed by another former Barcelona City Councilor, Daniel Sirera, who has surrounded himself Juan Bautista Milián at number 2 and another party leader with extensive experience in the City Council of the Catalan capital, Àngeles Esteller.

The other two formations that currently have municipal representation and that will try to maintain their presence in the plenary session of the Barcelona City Council are Ciudadanos, who is head of the list, the journalist Anna Grau, and Valents, a split from the group that presented with Ciudadanos in 2019, in the candidacy led by the former French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls. Eva Parera is the head of the ranks of this formation.

Among the candidacies that also aspire to be able to enter the Barcelona City Council from May 28 is Barcelona Ets Tú, led by the lawyer Daniel Vosseler, who is in charge of a team of professionals from various fields who aspire to contribute their knowledge to public management.

The CUP wants to return to the Barcelona City Council, in which it was already in the 2015-2019 mandate, hand in hand with its candidate Basha Changue, while the far-right formation Vox has trusted Gonzalo de Oro-Pulido with its options to break the barrier 5% to enter the Barcelona City Council for the first time. Another formation that usually appears in the elections in the Catalan capital and scratch a few thousand votes but has never achieved representation is Pacma (Animalist Party with the Environment), which presents Iván Guijarro as the head of the list.

The list of the 25 candidacies that are presented to the elections on May 28 in Barcelona is completed with other formations, some already classic, others new, which offer a wide range of electoral options to the people of Barcelona. They are Justícia i Unió, which presents Sergi Querol as head of the list; Som Identitaris (SOMI), with Juan Marín at the helm; Alliance of the Republican Left of Spain, with Sandra Lilina Tirado at number one; the National Front of Catalonia, led by Martí Naval; Family and Life, led by Josep Maria Clotet; the environmental group Els Verds-Alternativa Verda, with a prominent personality in this field, Santiago Vilanova, heading the list; and Nova Política Primàries, whose mayor is Roger Mallola.

The Partit del Treball-Effective Democràcia-Valencian Republic will also be at the electoral appointment of 28-M, with Joaquim Auladell as head of the list; Blank Seats to Leave Empty Seats, with Sylvia Torras at number one; the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain, led by Ferran Peris; The Cannabis-Luz Verde Party, which presents Javier Díaz Marín in first position; the Humanist Party of Maria Teresa Ruso; the Spanish Phalanx of the J.O.N.S, with Benigno Tierno in the lead; and United for International Solidarity, with Julio Villacorta opening the list.
