The young woman who accuses Dani Alves of rape left the bathroom disconsolate, crying and afraid that no one would believe her. This has been reported by her two friends who accompanied her to the Sutton nightclub in December 2022 and who this Monday testified as witnesses before the court that is trying the footballer for the crime of sexual assault. “I had never seen her like this in my life and she kept repeating: ‘I’m going home, they’re not going to believe me,’” explained a friend of hers. The young woman recalled that the complainant came out of the bathroom in the private room saying: “He hurt me a lot, he hurt me a lot, he ran inside.” The same has been confirmed by the complainant’s cousin who was also at Sutton.
The friends of Dani Alves’s complainant have presented a testimony in which they have described that they were uncomfortable when they shared a VIP area with the footballer. The friend explained that on December 30, 2022, after having dinner at his house and after visiting a cocktail bar, they decided to end the night at the Sutton nightclub. There, they were invited to a VIP area by a group of Mexicans and then they accepted Dani Alves’ invitation to accompany them to the booth. She has described that the footballer “had a slimy attitude” and that she decided to get away from her by standing on one side of the booth. The complainant’s cousin recalled that Alves and his friend were dancing very close to them and that the accused “had touched his private parts.
“In a moment he goes towards some stairs and a little later she goes. And there I lose sight of them. Bruno (Alves’s friend), the cousin and I stayed there,” the friend remembers. It is at that moment that the attack allegedly occurs. As the victim’s cousin explained, it was she who, upon seeing that Alves “was very insistent,” urged her cousin to talk to him, so she was not surprised that she entered with him through the door that turned out to be a bathroom. . “He insisted a lot and my friend didn’t know how to do it and I told her to talk to him. I have been uncomfortable many times and I did not think that something like this could happen in discomfort. “I was expecting a place to talk.”
The friends on the way out, as they explain, see that something is not right. “The complainant said she needed to leave. We left there. “I had never seen her like that in my life. She has hurt me a lot, she has come inside her. And at that moment I started crying with her,” her friend recalled. The victim continues to suffer the consequences after the events. “She is very bad, she has lost weight, she is anxious. She had a circle of friends, and now she doesn’t trust anyone. Everywhere we go, she thinks they are looking at her, she is not calm, she thinks they are going to look at her. Anywhere”.
Dani Alves’ defense, led by lawyer Inés Guardiola, has asked the court several questions suggesting that there was a previous flirtation between the complainant and the footballer, that they danced together and kissed, scenes that contradict the state of terror described by the complainant and her friends. Additionally, she has asked one of her friends, who is a lawyer, if she helped prepare a legal plan to denounce Alves. Both the friends and the victim have said that they did not remember him.
