The war triggers the registration of Russians and Ukrainians in the city of Valencia

The war between Russia and Ukraine has increased the number of Russians and Ukrainians registered in the city of Valencia. The first is the nationality that is growing the most (61.5%) followed by the population of Ukrainian nationality (36.8%); Both countries exceed the growth rates of Colombians (31.6%) or Peruvians (32.3%).

In this way, there are already 7,972 Ukrainians and 5,993 Russians on the registry of the city of Valencia. In fact, the former are already the fifth nationality in the capital cap i casal only behind Colombia with 18,218 people, Italy with 14,097, Venezuela with 9,946 and China with 8,495 individuals. Russia remains in ninth place. Foreign citizens represent 18.5% of the total registry.

In both cases it is significant that the number of women is much higher than that of men. When examining only the number of women, the Ukrainians advance to fourth position and the Russians to eighth.

If the distribution by neighborhood is observed, Ukrainians are the majority nationality in Malilla, Penya-roja, Carpesa and Beniferri. In this last neighborhood, Russians are the second most important nationality.

However, Colombians continue to be the foreign nationality most present in the registry, followed by Italians. With a clear difference, while transalpines are located in the most central and wealthiest areas of the city (Pla del Real, Eixample or Ciutat Vella), Colombians are the majority in more peripheral areas of the city.

In the classification by area, another curious fact is observed: Americans, who are not one of the most frequent nationalities (there are 2,593), but they are concentrated and are the majority in Pla del Remei, Gran Vía, two very wealthy neighborhoods.

These data are derived from the update of the registry of inhabitants of the Valencia City Council on January 1 of this year. The big data indicates that the number of people registered in the registry is 830,606, a figure that represents an increase of 21,105 compared to 2023, 2.5% more. The district with the most population is Quatre Carreres with 80,266 inhabitants after growing by 4.8% last year and the smallest is Poblats del Nord with just over 7,000 residents.

Likewise, municipal sources explain, the distribution by age groups shows that the 45-49 year old segment is the most representative in five-year ages and covers 7.9% of the population, followed by the 50-54 year old segment with a 7.6%. People aged 45 or older make up 50.7% of the total, reflecting demographic aging. Thus, the average age of the city is 44.7 years and Algirós is the oldest with an average of 47.0 years, and Rascanya is the youngest with an average of 42.7 years.
