The Urban Guard of Figueres (Girona) shot dead tonight a resident of the city who had shown up at a relative’s house and, after starting an argument, began shooting with a shotgun.
According to sources close to the case, the events took place around 8:00 p.m. on Romans Street in the capital of Alt Empordà, when a man in his 50s went to the house of his ex-wife’s sister, according to some sources, and After starting an argument for which the reason is currently unknown, he began shooting.
The relatives, apparently the sister-in-law and her daughter, ran to take refuge in the house while the man fired shots at the facade of the house.
Upon entering, they called asking for help from the neighbor, who is an agent of the Urban Police and was the one who alerted her colleagues and also gave safety advice to the family, such as closing all the blinds and opening the light outside the house. estate.
When the first patrol arrived, they asked the suspect, a resident of Figueres in his 50s and originally from Eastern Europe, to put down his shotgun, but he not only ignored them, but also opened fire on the agents.
The first two agents to arrive, after requesting support from other patrols, returned fire at the aggressor, hitting him in at least five parts of his body.
Once on the ground, they took the weapon from him and arrested him. An ambulance from the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) that had traveled to the scene took him to the Figueres Hospital.
The man arrived at around 9:30 p.m. in cardiorespiratory arrest at the emergency room where the doctors managed to revive him, but finally at around 10:45 p.m. he died due to the severity of the numerous wounds he suffered, at least three shots in the legs, another in the abdomen, in the chest and in one hand.
