The Solidarity Equality Awards of the Women for Dialogue and Education association have awarded the University of Alicante the award for the institution most committed to women, in recognition of its Women Researchers Program in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The jury of the 13th edition of these awards has highlighted that this program carried out by the Alicante educational institution is a space for interaction between members of the UA university community and women from Sub-Saharan African countries in university management positions, as well as researchers from the region. For the jury, this is the reason that led them to select her “as the perfect candidate in this category.”
This program is promoted by the Vice-Rectorate of International Relations and Development Cooperation of the University of Alicante, in collaboration with the Generalitat Valenciana. The grants are aimed at female researchers in the predoctoral or postdoctoral stage who are nationals of one of the countries established in the rules of the call and need to complete their training by carrying out short research stays at the University of Alicante for the development of their thesis. doctoral or research.
These awards were born in 2011 and are awarded annually by the Association of Women for Dialogue and Education, with the aim of distinguishing and honoring those women, men, media, companies and institutions who, due to their personal, professional career, business and human have contributed to enhancing the figure of women in the world, in issues related to equality, visibility, defense of their rights and conciliation, both in the cultural and socioeconomic spheres.
In addition to the University of Alicante, the Absolute Spanish Basketball Team, the ambassador of Luxembourg in Spain, Christian Biever, the Ellas Vamos program of Movistar Plus and the State Postal and Telegraph Society have been awarded in this edition. The awards will be presented on October 27 in Madrid.
