Tesla, the electric vehicle company owned by Elon Musk, allowed racial harassment of black workers at the Freemont (California) facility. Management also retaliated against employees who dared to protest the situation.

This is stated in the lawsuit from the federal agency that ensures compliance with civil rights laws.

Black employees faced racist insults on a daily basis, including various variations of the word nigger, which is one of the most reviled and humiliating terms.

According to the complaint from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), these workers were faced with drawings of nooses, such as those used in lynchings, or swastikas and other intimidating elements that appeared in public places at the plant.

This initiative is one more of the allegations about racist misconduct in Musk’s companies. The Department of Justice filed another lawsuit last month over discrimination at Space X against refugees in the US. In 2021, six women reported a culture of sexual harassment at Tesla.
