The Governing Council of the UAB on April 24 approved the document “Policy of the Faculty, School or Institute in situations of gender violence and LGBTIphobia and other discrimination.”

The Government Council corroborated a document that had previously been approved by the Commission for Equality and University Social Responsibility (CIRSU). Now, each Faculty, School or Institute must approve an instrument with a political profile that reaffirms the institutional commitment of said center in defending an inclusive culture that promotes equality, values ??diversity and maintains a working, learning and social environment. in which the rights and dignity of all its students and staff are respected.

The objectives of this policy are to promote a positive environment in which people are treated fairly and respectfully and that allows everyone to grow and prosper; state that situations of harassment, discrimination and inappropriate sexual behavior are unacceptable and that all groups have a role in creating a free and inclusive environment; provide a framework of support to staff and students who suffer situations of discrimination, harassment and inappropriate sexual conduct; and provide mechanisms through which people who find themselves in these situations can communicate or report them and an efficient response is given.

The recipients of this policy include the students of any study carried out in UAB centres, the teaching and research staff carrying out any type of academic activity, and the technical, management, administration and service staff assigned to any of the the structures of the University.
