Tiana Negra 2024 will be held on January 19, 20 and 21 with nearly twenty activities, many of them dedicated to true crime, such as the inaugural round table with the biggest names in the current genre, or a space dedicated to Crime by the Urban Police. But in this year’s edition there will also be a special look at the youth noir genre with the round table Els joves també llegeixen and a specific Reading Club for this age in the Municipal Library.
There will also be the classic Tiana Negra activities, such as Trivial Negre and Quatre negres i un saxo, where the main novelties of the genre for 2024 will be presented. The winners of the Agustí Vehí-Vila de Tiana Memorial award and the Career awards created in the previous edition. This year the festival also repeats the success of the Black Route, which will discover the Quico Sabater Assault, and the Vermut Negre, both activities will take place on Sunday the 21st in the morning. Three days in which Tiana Negra once again becomes the center and showcase of the noir genre in Catalan.
The Catalan literary beginning of the year is marked by the Tiana Negra, the Catalan novel festival that in 2024 reaches its twelfth edition. This year it will be held on January 19, 20 and 21 as always in the Sala Albèniz del Casal de Tiana, and will once again host the main novelties and authors of the genre in Catalan of the year.
This year the festival has a clear protagonist, true crime, a genre that has gained many followers in recent years. Tiana Negra 2024 will start with a high-level round table with Tura Soler, Narcís Bardalet, Jordi Grau and Fàtima Llambrich, all of them presenting their latest developments in the genre. In addition, a very special round table on Crime by the Urban Police has also been prepared with Juan Carlos Zayas, the lawyer of Pedro Rodríguez, the victim; the La Vanguardia journalists Maika Navarro and Toni Muñoz, author of the book Only you will have me; and the documentary filmmaker of the TV3 program Crims, Ona Tura.
And the classic Tiana Negra activities such as Quatre negres y un saxo could not be missed, which this year will feature Marc Font, Josep Torrent, Cristina Malagelada and the presentation of the book Elles tambo negregen with Sandra Freijomil. As always accompanied on sax by Pau Sanchis. The author Àlex Martín Escribà will be on the Chair of Ears this year to talk about his book Interrogatoris. The festival will feature two other news panels: From the Past to the Future which will include Jordi de Manuel, Àlex Martín Escribà and Silvestre Vilaplana and La riqueza del género which will feature Andreu Martín, Maribel Torres, Lluís Anton Baulenas and Marta Vidal y Guirao.
In the most fun section of the Tiana Negra, the Trivial Negre will return, which will once again test the knowledge of the attendees. And we will also be able to enjoy the Representation of the Monologue La més bella del món, by Ada Castells, with the actress Padi Padilla. And like every year, there will be a prominent space for the Tiana Negra literary awards, the Agustí Vehí-Vila de Tiana Memorial that reaches its eleventh edition, and the Career Achievement Awards for Creation and Translation that were created in the last edition and that they repeat.
One of the founding objectives of the festival has been for Tiana residents to feel identified and with this desire, last year the Tiana Negra was extended by days, offering different activities for all types of audiences, with great success. In the 2024 edition, the Black Route will be repeated, which will reveal the assault of Quico Sabater and the Vermut Negre, both activities will serve as the closing ceremony of the festival on Sunday, January 21, in the morning.
The Tiana Negra continues its path, adapting to new times, and with new proposals aimed at all audiences, so that the festival becomes a reference space not only for lovers of the genre but also for all lovers of literature and art. culture. As every year, the bulk of the activities will be concentrated in the Sala Albéniz del Casal de Tiana, which is already one of the reference spaces for crime novels in Catalan.
