Without a doubt, the Saló de l’Ensenyament has become an essential stopover for thousands of young Catalans who finish secondary school or want to start planning their academic and professional future. The event has the most complete offer of post-compulsory studies with more than 220 exhibitors and 170 orientation and advice activities to help them in their next choice.
33 editions guarantee the interest and service that this room generates among the student community, which is why more and more spaces are destined to satisfy these concerns. In addition to higher education and university degrees offered by different faculties throughout Catalonia, the hall also offers high school, Vocational Training (FP), languages, artistic and sports education and other complementary options.
The bulk of the show’s offering corresponds to higher education, where 40% of the exhibitors are concentrated. In this space, the 12 Catalan universities, both public and private, meet, as well as their affiliated centers to present the qualifications of their faculties for the next academic year.
The University of Barcelona has a stand that will have 180 square meters. It will be organized into six knowledge islands, one for general information and a space for group talks. The center will distribute thirteen interactive touch screens throughout the stand to offer personalized advice. The assigned team will be made up of specific informants from the centers, general informants to quickly guide the student towards the study in which they are interested, and technicians from the Student Service Service. The final objective to be achieved is to inform and provide a satisfactory life experience to the students of the Salón de l’Ensenyament.
The academic offer of the UB will be made up of 74 degrees and 15 double degrees. The main novelty is cybersecurity, taught by the attached center ENTI-UB. It will be the first of these characteristics that can be taken in Catalonia. It will be structured into four courses and will respond to the growing demand for professional experts in the field of cybersecurity. The second novelty in degrees presented by the UB is that of Gastronomic Management and Management, which will be taught by the Barcelona Culinary Hub, an affiliated center of the UB. It is also structured in four courses and will train professionals capable of leading new options linked to gastronomy in a globalized context and interested in concepts such as sustainability, culinary traditions or the food identity of the regions.
In addition, the university has a mobile application as the main tool to inform future students. From there you can access the degree search engine, with information about the teachings, videos of tips to successfully pass the university entrance tests or a frequently asked questions section.
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona will have a stand that will focus information on the degree offering and on the services and singularities of the UAB campus, as an interdisciplinary and internationalized environment where you can participate in a wide range of cultural and community activities to take the step to university. Regarding the master’s and postgraduate academic offerings, the UAB organizes virtual fairs to inform about the master’s degrees, postgraduate degrees and doctorates it offers.
During the days of the show, the Autonomous University organizes activities and workshops to bring the secrets of their careers closer with informative examples. How to make video games more inclusive and accessible, flight simulators, workshops to discover the origin of antibiotic resistance, optical microscopes where you can observe different cellular and histological preparations up to a magnification of one thousand times to identify subcellular structures or an archaeobotany laboratory workshop to explain What our ancestors ate or how they dressed.
As an academic novelty, we find the degree in Business and Technology, where part of the studies will be carried out in a company or institution (dual mention). This degree is specific to the Faculty of Economics and Business and is taught on the Sabadell campus. These are pioneering studies in Spain and focused on training professionals who participate in digital projects, implement large management systems, big data and develop new business models.
During the next year there will be a novelty in the Bioinformatics degree, an interuniversity degree taught jointly by UAB, UB, UPC and UPF, which is that it will be offered at a public price of 18.46 euros per credit. The degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology will also be presented with new developments in the curriculum to update the training approach.
The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya will offer information on the 67 degrees linked to engineering, architecture, science and technology that the UPC will teach next year. More than 90 students from UPC schools and faculties, with the support of teaching staff and information staff, will answer questions about study plans, professional opportunities, university life, international mobility options, the possibility of doing internships. in companies or taking one of the 74 double degrees offered.
The UPC has two new degrees in the university offer. On the one hand, the degree in Satellite Engineering that will be taught at the School of Telecommunications and Aerospace Engineering of Castelldefels (FETAC), on the Baix Llobregat Campus and that will offer comprehensive training in the knowledge, skills and competencies required the space sector. The contents of the new degree, of 240 ECTS (four courses in duration) include the design and control of the systems that make up a space vehicle, communications with the Earth and between satellites, data transmission and processing, and services and applications of satellite data. This new degree is co-financed by the Generalitat of Catalonia within the framework of the NewSpace Strategy of Catalonia, which incorporates technological, social and business actions aimed at promoting the Catalan space sector.
The next academic year also begins the degree in Electrical Engineering and Railway Systems, which can be taken at the Higher Polytechnic School of Vilanova i la Geltrú (EPSEVG), pending approval by AQU Catalunya and the Council of Universities. These studies provide specific training in the field of electrical engineering, with emphasis on railway systems, both in terms of the industrial component and in the field of project development and technological innovation. Thus, the study plan includes aspects specific to this sector, such as organization and structure, as well as different systems that make it up: electrification systems, security and signaling systems, communications systems, facilities and rolling stock.
The UPC will also offer complementary activities to show the contents taught in the courses. Mixed reality games, games to bring research and innovation to young people and awaken interest in scientific and technological studies, a virtual flight simulator, a sustainable mining workshop or learning with robots.
