The sun sets in Begur and the statue of Carmen Amaya seems to want to catch it, as can be seen in this photograph shared in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

The flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya, born in Barcelona, ??died in Begur, at her home in Mas Pinc, on November 19, 1963. The municipality wanted to dedicate a walk to her that bears her name and also this sculpture, located in a viewpoint from where you can see the whole town.

This sculpture by Francesc Polop, inaugurated in 2003, is 2.30 meters high and shows the bailaora in full dance, following a geometric figuration that refers to cubism.

Begur, in the Baix Empordà region, is a town on the Costa Brava that, in the low tourist season, has just over 4,000 inhabitants, but in the summer months, the population exceeds 40,000.

Despite its tourist character, it maintains an important historical past that goes back to prehistory, also going through the Iberian era.
