The access to the church of Sitges and its surroundings are filled with curious people who come, sometimes recklessly, to contemplate the brutal spectacle of a wave crashing violently against the rocks and the railing of the stairs leading up to this religious temple.
More than one gets a good soak and I don’t give up the profit with the “freshness” it was doing at the time of capturing these images for La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos.
Audiences of all ages come to watch the large waves crash and rise several meters. Something worth seeing, but with great caution and keeping your distance.
The meeting point for spectators is at the foot of the stairs of the church of San Bartolomé and Santa Tecla, which dates back to the 17th century and stands on a small hill near the beach of this town in Garraf.
It is a baroque style building that was built between 1665 and 1672, in a place where there had previously been two churches, one Romanesque and the other Gothic.
