The Community of Madrid begins this Wednesday the deadline to submit applications for student admission for the 2024/25 school year, something that can be done until April 16.

According to the Madrid Government, these enrollments affect Early Childhood, Primary, Special, Compulsory Secondary and Baccalaureate education centers supported with public funds.

Documentation can be submitted in person at educational centers and also electronically. The lists of those admitted will be announced on May 31, except for those for the first cycle of Infants, which will be made public on June 4.

Registration will be from June 13 to 28 for Infant, Primary and Special Education, and from June 13 to July 5 for Secondary and Baccalaureate.

It is estimated that around 150,000 Madrid families will formalize this documentation delivery process. This can be done in person at the nursery school, public or subsidized school and institute that they request first, and also electronically through the website ‘www.comunidad.madrid’.

This year, the scores that were adapted to comply with the implementation of the state Lomloe will continue to be applied. Although this Education Law prioritizes proximity to the parents’ home center as the main criterion for admission, the Madrid Government, within its powers, prioritizes other circumstances, such as having siblings in the same school or facilitating family grouping. In this way, freedom of educational choice is favored.

Other aspects of the scale are also maintained, such as the fact that these are minors born from multiple births, belonging to a single-parent family or applicants in foster care, in which case they may obtain 3 points.

For their part, those who are victims of gender violence or terrorism will add 2 points, and the unborn child will be considered for the purposes of applying the large family criterion.

The scale for siblings enrolled in the same school or institute will continue to be the highest. In this way, 15 points will be awarded for one brother who teaches at the same school or institute and 30 for two or more.

The qualifications for the proximity to home section preserve the criterion of a single schooling zone in each municipality or, in the case of the city of Madrid, municipal district, a measure widely recognized by Madrid families.

The assessment of the income of the family unit is also maintained – limited to recipients of the Minimum Insertion Income or the minimum vital income -, disability, parents who work at the center, large families or parents or siblings who are former students.
