These photographs in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos announce the change of time. That is what the proverbs tell us, when we contemplate the church of Sant Romà de Sau under a sky of little sheep.

And this type of clouds predict that rain is approaching, which is important in a context of drought. The saying goes: “Heavy sky, wet before three days” (in Catalan, “al cel cabretes i al terra pastetes”).

The special texture that clouds acquire in the sky makes it popularly resemble a surface between brick or cotton.

Precisely, from this Thursday the storm Aline will leave a strong storm across the entire peninsula with gusts of wind close to 100 kilometers per hour, heavy rain, strong waves and the first snow of autumn in the northern mountains, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). It will go from west to east, so it will arrive in Catalonia later.

The drought of this Sau reservoir in the Osona region has allowed the interior of the Sant Romà church to be exposed, which normally remains submerged under the waters of the swamp.

The Sau reservoir, located in the municipality of Vilanova de Sau, is at the foot of the Guilleries massif. It is part of a system of three reservoirs, along with those of Susqueda and Pasteral, which unites the counties of Osona and La Selva.

The reservoir, inaugurated in 1962, covered the town of Sant Romà de Sau, the remains of which, especially the temple’s bell tower, are visible when the water level is low. The Romanesque church was built in the 11th century.
