Neighbors of Getafe affected by the transfer of the ‘Mad Cool’ festival from its current venue in Valdebebas to the Villaverde district, south of Madrid, have begun to mobilize to demand actions that safeguard their rest “in the face of the passivity and ineffectiveness of the Madrid City Council “.

They have done so after meeting yesterday Tuesday with the mayoress, Sara Hernández (PSOE), to whom they have asked for her collaboration to advance proposals that allow safeguarding the rest of the residents of Getafe Norte and Los Molinos, the neighborhoods that would be most affected by the arrival in Villaverde of this festival.

Integrated into the ‘Stop Mad Cool Villaverde Platform’, in which the neighborhood associations of Los Molinos, Getafe Norte and the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Getafe are represented, these residents have been showing their frontal rejection for months due to “the inconvenience it will generate the decision to change location.

“Mad Cool cannot go ahead 300 meters from the homes in Getafe and Villaverde because it is an outrage to the health and rest of thousands of residents,” these associations reiterate after confirming in recent days the purchase of the land in the who fear that there will be “macrofestivals throughout the year”.

The new site would be located next to the El Gato industrial estate and the Villaverde Industrial Factory, in the Los Aguados and Los Llanos area, some land still undeveloped, where an urban transformation will be necessary, and which will serve to revitalize its surroundings, where the Marconi industrial estate is located.

The aforementioned plots of Villaverde, of a private nature and with whose owners the organizers have reached an agreement, border on the north with the aforementioned Polígono Marconi and on the south with the M-45, which already separates Madrid from Getafe, that is to say ” few meters” of the Getafense municipality.

Specifically, the neighborhoods of Getafe Norte and Los Molinos, the closest to Madrid, currently have 31,000 residents, would be the most affected by these disturbances “with the impunity of the City Council of the capital.”

Those affected already went to the municipal plenary session last November to request support in the face of “the collapse” that they will suffer “both in terms of mobility and loss of quality of life, since tranquility will disappear due to the increase in noise, large bottles and the lack of of security”.

Then the City Council promised to take “as many actions as necessary” to prevent the well-known inconvenience that this macro-festival has generated for the residents of Valdebebas in recent editions, which is now transferred to the residents of both Villaverde and Getafe. as a neighboring city.
