Daniel Sancho continues in provisional prison for the murder and dismemberment of the Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta. The Spanish chef has already received a visit from Silvia Bronchalo, his mother, and everything indicates that his father Rodolfo Sancho, who is closing a series of negotiations, will soon be traveling.

In parallel, the victim’s family copes with the death of the surgeon as best they can. However, they do not want revenge. Through his spokesman in Spain, Luis Romero, the family has recently announced that they will respect the sentence imposed on Sancho, without seeking a more severe sentence such as the death penalty, something that is completely legal in Thailand.

Romero, in statements to Europa Press, has also indicated that there will be a pause in the public statements of the surgeon’s family. The objective, according to his words, will focus on a more “legal and procedural” treatment.

A crucial aspect in this phase of the case is the anticipated receipt of key documents from the Colombian Foreign Ministry and the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These documents, which are expected in the coming days, will include data on the police and judicial investigation. This information will be essential to devise a legal strategy and adequately inform the public.

The Thai authorities, in charge of clarifying what happened on the day of the murder of the surgeon, have already received the preliminary reports of Arrieta’s autopsy. Specific details, however, have not been disclosed. Suteep Chadakarn, one of the agents in charge of the investigation, assures in a statement collected by the EFE news agency that “we have received some autopsy results, which we are examining and cannot reveal yet.”

Chadakarn has also reported that the search for Arrieta’s body parts is still ongoing, since only 8 of the 17 parts in which he would have been dismembered have been found so far.
