The exhibition Pintures de Ricard Renart Castells is a tribute to this painter from Girona (1952 – 2013), who died a decade ago.
His oil paintings on canvas can now be seen at the La Mercè Cultural Center in Girona until March 31.
The realistic-style paintings, some even hyper-realistic, contain urban landscapes of the city of Girona, easy to recognize because they show emblematic places, as well as others such as the Empordà.
Ricart Renart worked as a restorer of the heritage, such as the paintings of the old Hotel Center, the painting of the Virgin of the Good Death from the portal of Sobre Portes, the plan of Paris in the turns of the Rambla and the crypt of the church of the Daughters of Sant Josep (Butinyanes).
His style led him to paint realistic oil paintings where the city of Girona often appears as the protagonist.
