The PSPV has decided to once again call off the executive scheduled for this Monday the 15th that was to be convened by the National Committee that must set a date for the Extraordinary Congress to elect the new leadership of the Valencian federation. In a message sent to the members of the socialist governing body, it is reported that it is suspended for “agenda reasons” and will be reconvened for January 22. Last week it was also scheduled to be held on Monday, but it was cancelled.

Several sources confirm that it was, on this occasion, the national leadership of the PSOE that forced the postponement of the executive due to the possibility that tomorrow Alejandro Soler, provincial secretary of the PSPV of Alicante, would present his candidacy. With this decision, Ferraz tries to buy time to avoid a confrontational situation in the Valencian federation.

The postponement confirms that it will be very complex to achieve a consensus candidacy. On the one hand, the sector close to Ximo Puig is betting on the Minister of Science and Universities, Diana Morant, although this option is becoming increasingly difficult. But the provincial secretaries of Alicante and Valencia, Alejandro Soler and Carlos Fernández Bielsa, also present a candidacy. These sources indicate that Diana Morant is not considering a primary battle if any of the other candidates take the step.

In a statement, Ximo Puig justified the postponement of the executive on Monday because “the calendar always has to be adapted to the best solutions. At this moment it has seemed opportune and favorable to postpone it, the important thing is that we achieve an agreement and a situation of maximum consensus”.

“The PSPV-PSOE has an enormous responsibility: to give hope to citizens again with a progressive change, which is what the Valencian Community needs. That is what has to call us now to think about how the PSPV-PSOE is more competitive by 2027,” added the former president.

Furthermore, he states that “all the work that can be done to unite is positive, we cannot be slaves to the calendar. We have to look for the best solution and learn from the mistakes of the past.”
