The PSOE will propose Francina Armengol for the Presidency of the Congress of Deputies. The former Balearic president was the candidate in the pools, which also included the minister Félix Bolaños, who was better received among the other progressive members who will vote, predictably, next Thursday for the socialist bet. As reported by the PSOE through a statement, the Federal Executive Commission will make this proposal to the parliamentary group tomorrow.

Both socialist bodies will meet tomorrow in which a marathon day in Congress is expected, through which a good part of the deputies elected in the last elections who have not yet collected their credentials will parade. Meanwhile, in the offices, negotiations are expected to continue both in the right-wing and left-wing blocs to close the agreements with which they intend to gain control of the Congress Table, a key body to control the upcoming parliamentary times.

The PSOE has raised the letter of its candidate to preside over the Congress, while the Popular Party, which also aspires to preside over the Lower House, has not yet revealed who its candidate will be. That letter bears the name of Francia Armengol, who has been a member of the PSOE of the Balearic Islands since the 1990s. According to the Socialists, Armengol “treasures extensive experience and service in public and parliamentary life.”

In the last days in the corridors of Congress, from the ranks of Sumar, ERC and EH Bildu they were receptive to this option, above Bolaños. She “She is a woman and is committed to plurinationality. There is no color ”, commented parliamentary sources. It is precisely this profile that the PSOE highlights: “Armengol is an example of a country that coexists naturally with the richness of the various languages ??spoken in Spain.”

“We are convinced that he will represent our country, as the third authority of the State, with the maximum solvency, just as his predecessor in office, Meritxell Batet, did,” they predict from the PSOE, despite the fact that at the moment they do not have a majority assured. that allows him to preside over the Congress of Deputies.
