Prades, in the Baix Camp region, is the goal of many tours for amateur cyclists, who end their journey having breakfast in one of the bars in the town’s main square, known for its popular fountain, as can be seen in this report in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

Prades is a good destination for cyclists given its location. It is in the mountains, almost 1,000 meters high, with almost 1,200 meters of altitude in the Tossals that surround it, such as the Tossal de la Baltasana.

It is an ideal meeting point for cyclists and bikers, who recharge their batteries in its various bars and restaurants, as can be seen in this report.

The Prades fountain was reproduced and displayed at the Universal Exhibition of Barcelona in 1929 in the Pueblo Español de Montjuïc. It is located in Plaça Major, it is Renaissance in style, from the 15th – 16th centuries, made of stone and cement, with four pipes.

Its spherical shape and its spouts oriented to the four cardinal points make it resemble the globe, which is why it is called The symbol of the Earth.

Apart from the porticoed Plaça Major, in Prades there are other places of interest, such as the church of Santa Maria, the remains of the old walls, the castle or, on the outskirts, the hermitage dedicated to Our Lady of the Beehive .
