The PP continues to have intact its confidence that the 33 Vox deputies will support the investiture of the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, if King Felipe VI commissions him to form a government after the round of talks that the monarch will begin in the coming days, as establishes the Constitution, before designating a candidate. A support that Santiago Abascal has not withdrawn from Feijóo, but that he has not confirmed either after Vox was excluded from the Congress Table, since the PP did not give him any support. The leader of the extreme right will notify the King of his final decision and beforehand he hopes to speak with the PP.
The fact that those of Abascal did not support the PP candidate for the presidency of Congress, Cuca Gamarra, and that the popular ones have not supported the Vox candidate, Ignacio Gil Lázaro, so that he would have a seat at the table, made one think that the investiture was complicated for Feijóo, but after the constitutive session of the Cortes the doubt was cleared by Santiago Abascal himself when he assured that the PP had not skipped any agreement, but that it had acted “with little generosity” by not allowing that the third force with the most votes in the last elections is not represented in the Table of Congress.
And this is why they will demand “explanations” and “answers” to the formation of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, with whom they will continue to hold talks in the coming days ahead of the round of consultations with Felipe VI. Of course, the leader of Vox has left in the air the offer of the 33 deputies without conditions for the investiture of Feijóo. Nor has it been said that he withdraws that endorsement. What he has assured is that he reserves that decision, which he will meditate these days, to communicate it to King Felipe VI in the next round of consultations.
The general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, stressed, at the same time, that the election of the Bureau and the investiture are “two different things”, and that for them the statement made public by the far-right formation was still valid.
