The PP continues to reel off initiatives that continue to keep alive the Mediator case that affects the former socialist deputy Juan Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo, on this occasion to call on the Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to give explanations and apologize, as the only formula for that there is no commission of inquiry, which otherwise the PSOE itself should support.
This Thursday, the general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, an Andalusian, was in charge of taking another step in the PSOE offensive, and he did it to remind Pedro Sánchez, and the Spanish, of the ERE case, due to its similarity in some aspects, such as attendance at brothels and the presence of prostitutes and drugs.
For this reason, Bendodo reminds Pedro Sánchez that the worst thing he can do is what he is doing, keep quiet, which is what the Andalusian government did when the ERE case arose “and they ended up on the bench and in jail.” Hence the warning from the general coordinator of the PP to Pedro Sánchez: “Silence is not an option, because it will end up devouring you. Look at Andalusia.”
In addition, the PP wants to focus attention on possible links to the plot of the mediator case, not only with the Canarian government, as now, but as a case that directly affects the Government of Pedro Sánchez, after the judicial investigation points to contracts of the plot with the Ministries of Defense, Interior and an agency dependent on Foreign Affairs.
Hence, the PP asks several questions not only to Pedro Sánchez, but to the Government as a whole, including Unidas Podemos, and Yolanda Díaz, whom it questions about whether they made any contract with those involved. She specifically asks Díaz if “they were aware of the scandal” if any of her ministries have contracted with the plot, and if “they are going to allow all this to be covered up”, since they have said that they will not support the commission research.
Sánchez and the Government in general are asked how many contracts have been made by those involved with the Government of Spain, and if any of them have been made with the money from the European Next Generation funds. It is also interested in whether the Government has given instructions to the Prosecutor’s Office to benefit those involved, after the former socialist deputy Juan Bernardo Fuentes has been released with charges, against the opinion of the judge investigating the case, because The prosecutor did not request admission to prison, which the judge was in favor of to prevent evidence from being destroyed.
Likewise, the PP asks Sánchez if the Government has opened any internal investigation into the case, to see how far the plot goes and if it has been able to operate with its ministries; he asks her to give the name of all the deputies and senators who have met with the Mediator and with businessmen. He also asks Sánchez if, because he was aware of the scope of the case, he has changed his spokesperson five times in the Socialist Group in Congress, and specifically if this case is the reason for the dismissal of Héctor Gómez, from the Canary Islands, as spokesman, a few months after having been named.
Despite so many questions, the general coordinator, Elías Bendodo, did not respond to the repeated question of whether the PP is sure that there is no member of the PP involved in the plot. He hides behind the fact that the PSOE is trying to cast these shadows, as it also did in the case of the ERE, but in the end the only ones who sat on the bench were members of the PSOE. And regarding the meeting, already declared and admitted by the mediator with the PP candidate for the Canary Islands presidency, Manuel Domínguez, he limited himself to pointing out that he has already explained the terms of the meeting, which, according to what he has said, was in a meeting with a journalist and that it was so that the Mediator would warn him that they had orders to kill him when he was mayor of Realejos.
